| History | Colorita® is an introduction from the breeding programs of Royal Van Zanten in the Netherlands. The series features large buds that unfold into brightly colored flowers with bold markings. These exceptional bloomers perform all summer long in most regions. Colorita® rhizomes survive underground after moderate frost, producing strongly branched flower stems in spring. |
| Lore | Peruvian lilies are native to the rich soils of the mountain regions of South America, in Chile and Brazil. The introduction of the alstroemeria to Europe has been credited to 18th century botanist, Claus von Alstroemer of Sweden, hence the botanical name. Alstroemeria make excellent cut flowers, and are symbolic of friendship and devotion–making them ideal for wedding bouquets. |
