| History | Although patented as the ‘Electric Avenue’ cultivar in the Cruizin’ Series of coreopsis, this plant has become known as “The Mayo Clinic Flower of Hope”. The Cruizin’ Series of threadleaf coreopsis developed after Patti Bauer of Bauer’s Forever Flowers in Lucinda, PA discovered the ‘Route 66’ variety growing in her garden in 2005. The Series has since grown from the Route 66 and includes cultivars such as ‘Broad Street’, ‘Electric Avenue’ and ‘Sunset Strip’. The Cruizin’ Series features vibrant reds, golds, and oranges, and are notable for their hardiness. |
| Lore | Vibrant tickseeds provide easy-care color that will invite butterflies and birds to the garden. While several species of Coreopsis are rabbit resistant, C. verticillata is more prone to grazing bunnies, especially when young. |
