| History | Hiroshi “Hiro” Kuwabara began cultivating hibiscus flowers as a hobby. His mission has been to develop a hardier, more vibrant colored hibiscus cultivar within Southern California’s climate without the use of a greenhouse. Hiro is known by many in the nursery industry as the co-owner of Yamato Nursery Inc., and provided horticultural advice to the Pacific Palisades (California) community for over 30 years until his retirement in 2004. |
